The origin is a mystery. Two boys posted up in the most gangrene bathroom possible, one apprehensive and one nonchalant. The dichotomy is iconic. But who are these men? We may never know. Even /r/InternetMysteries doesn’t know, a sign of true anonymity. The task force is ongoing though. Because the internet remembers. You are both legends, scrawny white boy and dapper black boy with ill-fitting pants. Limp Pumpo has you both covered, a testament to the resolute power of this image.
If you’ve ever read Kieran Press-Reynolds’ Rabbit Holed column or indulged in mashup culture in any sense, whether that be Girl Talk or nightcore or dariacore, then Limp Pumpo is the endgame of your sensibility. Take any sort of impulse or blown out DAW experiment you’ve tried to manifest, then multiply it, and you have the music of Limp Pumpo. Fuck mixing, fuck any semblance of engineering a proper sound range, this is visceral adrenaline. YTMND sublimated onto audio files, still shouting LOLinternet while the bot singularity approaches, less and less organic interactions flooding our timelines.
Who is Jesus Belluci? The supposed mastermind behind Limp Pumpo has sparse, irregular posting pattern on his Instagram, with little but deep fried memes and videos of his DJ sets set in dank basements that smell of whippet canisters and white Monster. Is Jesus Belluci his real name? Does it matter? In an age where every mysteriousness gimmick is snuffed out by datamining and sleuths, a figure whose origin and backstory remains inscrutable is to be commended. Left wondering the context and circumstance makes connecting dots that much more rewarding.
In Stijnie Thuijs’ paper YouTube Poop: A Picture of the Digital, she asserts that YouTube poopers “poke fun at the original material by montaging it in certain ways that decontextualize it and therewith subverting the original message. They make it funny, absurd or both.” This may seem rote in 2026, but set the stage: this paper is from 2011. The detournement of destroying recognizable tunes was not well known, unless you were a big fan of John Oswald or the Residents. In any sense, it requires a major engagement with the aforementioned original material. When Limp Pumpo makes ten flips of 6ix9ine’s “Gummo”, it is not out of pure irony. There’s a true jouissance in using that strange Bushwick Latino who says nigga a lot to soundtrack your remixes of “Better Off Dead” and “Shake It”. Does it have any deeper significance? If you’re so lucky.
You’re never a stone’s throw from a track that hits like a freight train, though. “syco”, the ostensible intro to his discography, uses Gangsta Black’s “Victim of This Shit” as its lyrical centerpiece juxtaposing the murderous lyrics with euphoric breaks. “Psycho in the cut / with the mask and the pistol grip” never sounded so good. It’s the kind of repetition you can build a producing legacy on, a pocket that’s locked in but not easy or stale.
One million pounds of rat meat sold in America? Ten million pounds of rat meat sold in America? Fact checkers be damned, it’s real in Limp Pumpo’s country. Every Facebook AI bait picture and Snopes debunked myth lives here, compounded by breaks interspersed with blatant samples. Do you like Royksopp’s “Remind Me”? “£1M OF RAT MEAT INSURANCE BEING SOLD IN THE UK” keeps the sublime melody and scrambles your brain regardless. Do you remember Tetris Arena? Have fond memories of dicking around on your school laptop with friends? “Alien Starbucks” manifests itself with all the chaos that Tetris brings when you’re about to top out. It’s elevator music for willingly being sent to hell.
Everything in Limp Pumpo’s discography is iterative. The aforementioned “Gummo” mixes are troll jobs, but the amount of times he adjusts tracks by speed and octave are indicative of a jester’s approach to music. There are multiple tracks with essentially the same name, pitched up or down, given a new coat of paint for the fuck of it. Nothing is off-limits to be played with, to be cooked and fried and deep-fried and char-boiled and burnt to a crisp because by god, why not, why not take the luxury of turning your own creation inside out and play with its innards. You can reach the exact type of people who love this shit.
This mostly plays out in the Brampton-themed songs. I’ve no clue what goes on up there—please Ontarians, confirm if you are inundated with ghastly tales of what goes on at Tim Horton’s and A&W’s—but it sounds like a GTA server come to life. “Brampton Man Accused Of Defrauding Woman In DNM Exit Scam” and its derivatives are revelatory, a sort of gabber that somehow feels flighty and not punishing, despite its sonic annihilation.
I’m labeling Limp Pumpo’s discography as a Certified Classic rather than a single record because I doubt the compact album format was ever Belluci’s intention. Having a full 133 tracks as an unwieldy amalgamation of what he’s about strikes me as the best way to get into him, every stupid loosie included. There’s no strong thematic attachment or permeance, as you can skip or choose what is worth saving, again and again, until somehow, these insane club tunes have burrowed themselves inside you.
For all the Soundclown kids, all the RateYourMusic weirdos that sit alone at the lunch table, all the people who have opinions on ponystep and lolicore and figures that get posted on Kiwifarms and have joined a questionable Discord or two, some part of you lives in Limp Pumpo. It is online art so deeply drenched by in-group semiotics that somehow transcends the signaling, scratching at nooks of your brain you’ve wished to forget looking at 9Gag or Encyclopedia Dramatica or Patiasfantasyworld. And yet despite the referentiality, it is still endlessly listenable, the fruit of a singularly gifted producer whose memetic gratuity belies how brilliant and seductive his productions can be. So entertain his antics or don’t—his ADHD club music is undeniable. Gather all your ephemera, parts of yourself you barely remember or can’t quite place, the blue light that disrupts your circadian rhythm and melatonin regulation, put it into a slurry, mix well, and enjoy.
