look I feel u and felt disappointed about the MIKE album first listen too but its grown on me something serious. the production + sequencing makes it a bit of a slog to get through sure, but hit shuffle on the project and tell me MIKE's not gettin off on like 75% those joints. I've also been very taken by how grim POMPEII is compared to his recent material (especially the more mainstream stuff as of late) and have kept coming back to it just to figure out bugging dude so much (the answer is, well, everything lol). also feel like POMPEII's bleak material and dense sequencing serves to highlight the light, sage-like serenity that Earl raps with on UTILITY (which I feel like has some of his best music to date).
Echoing the shuffle comment. Aside from the first and last track on each disc, the sequencing isn’t great, and listening on shuffle (and alternating between the two rappers) makes it a lot less of a slog.
